Temple & Family History Work

Yes I have helped my dear friend and encourage & helped a few others in the branch with Temple and Family History. When we entered the temple on this day President Pulsipher said, "When I see you I always think of the Andreason's".  I said, "I will be sure to let them know.  There are lots of smiles and whispers and reverence in this the temple.

Baby D having fun at the ERC

While visiting with her mother on the side, our Sweet Little 7 year spent 15 minutes at the desk answering the phone many times: "Hello this is Sister Hoopes Speaking! How may I help you?  What is your name?  Our phone number is:  37634 48331 248 553 0405 888 537 5627.  Okay Sister Hoopes is gone now"  She said this knowing we are leaving soon.
Another fun day at the office.

This Brother was invited to show us his possession of an 1830 publication of the Book of Mormon.  He spoke also of how he helps to arrange for art at the BYU Museum of Art.

The book  received from his father.  Someone in Michigan was cleaning their attic and  found this Book of Mormon.  He called our Brother's father and asked if he would like to have it.  His father asked who was the printer of the book?  When the man replied it was printed by the Grandin Press, his father said, I'll be right over and get it.

Elder Hoopes New Office

For two weeks the office has been under construction.  Elder Hoopes office used to be way down the hall.  I always thought my companion needed to be closer to me and now, finally he is.  The office is still not finished, a new desk has been ordered because this desk is extremely small.  However the best part now is that we can communicate and see each other and it is whole lot nicer.  As you can see on my computer I am catching up the blog.  We have been so busy that taking pictures and keeping up the blog has not been a priority.  But it is important as we think of remembering the awesome wonders of our mission.

All Area Conferences This Spring of 2012

Farmington Hills April 28,  Beginning Job Seekers.
I show only 30 seconds out of 2.5 minutes of Lucy & Ethel apply for a job at an Employment Agency.  When asked "What kind of a job are you looking for?"  Lucy replies "What kinds of jobs do you have open?"   It goes back and forth like that several times.  Finally the frustrated Agent says, " Now look ladies, I can't hire you unless you tell me what you can do."  Then he starts reading down a list asking them if they can do this, or this, or that and each time they just  look puzzled and shake their heads, no. This 30 seconds confirms what the groups has already learned from a Quiz on what 1,000 employers considered the #1 important thing in an interviewer (even though the other things on the list are also very important).  The clip confirmed that Verbalization of Skills is the foundation for  finding a job.  The clip adds some laughter and fun to the class.

Amazing Gentleman

Brother Markey amazes me.  He is a driver for the Bishop's Store House and comes in to say hello every time.  He  created the words on his jacket to show who he is.  He is a wonderful member missionary and while delivering for the Red Cross one of the volunteers began asking him questions and indicated she was interested in learning more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Her questions were a result of news articles mentioning Mormons running for government offices.  Brother Markey also has a great history of accomplishments using the skill of "going the extra mile" as I learned from his Power Stories during the Career Workshop. He is even a horticulturalist and has beehives and gave us a gift of a bottle of his delicious honey.  He makes my day every time he comes in.

Celebration of Relief Society 2012

We love our sisters.  I added this picture to the DVD I made in 2005 when Tempe Stake celebrated Relief Society.  The DVD showed the Relief Society Sisters around the world.  When it they watched it, they were shocked when they saw their own picture in it.  It was a fun surprise gift for them.

Three Elders have finished their missions and are going home for their next Life Mission.  It is so exciting to teach the steps of self reliance and communication.  It is especially exciting when the Elder said to me, as others have also said, "I wish I had learned this at the beginning of my mission.  Their comments of how hard it was to give feedback confirmed the things we talked about.  Associating the points of feedback with scripture will literally bless their lives abundantly for the rest of their life.  One Elder is returning to go to Eastern AZ College.  We knew him well as he was in our Grand River Branch area.  Elder Kiel at the table just returned from his mission from Washington DC.  We invited him to attend.  On Sunday all of the testimonies also mentioned their love and joy for his service and his return home.  He is the first missionary to serve from the branch.  Each of the testimonies, plus those of his parents and family were so touching.  Every testimony in the branch is unique and so loved and appreciated by us.

Oh how we love our Elders Dabb, Hoffman and Mortenson and hope to see them again some day.

Another exciting stay of new Elders at our apartment.  This is our second set of Elders.  All of our other guests have been new Sister Missionaries.  Our first set of Elders, one of them was a friend of Hunter and Jonathan Hoopes in Mesa.  Now so amazing another wonderful surprise, Elder Cowan is a friend of Garrett in Lehi Ut.  Also amazing and great blessing is that these Elders and their friends, our grandsons are also serving missions for the Lord to build His Kingdom upon the earth. This is one of our fun and great blessings while serving our mission. Elder Swalvinski is a new member of four years and from Poland.  Having association with these wonderful young Elders is a great and marvelous blessing in our lives.

Christmas Cactus from Brenda Ebie blooming after January 1st.  So beautiful.

Monday Jan 9th, our fantastic Family Home Evening with all of our children & grandchildren. A great blessing  for our mission life. We sang together prayed together and ended our evening kneeling in prayer.
Only one family at a time had the speaker on, the rest were on mute. Each had their time to share their full names & share with each other events in their lives. We loved every minute of it & it was so hard to say goodby.
